Prof. Romiță Iucu, PhD
He is a Ph.D. professor at the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, Vice-rector of the University of Bucharest since 2004. He holds a degree in Pedagogy as Valedictorian with the highest grade (10.00), Master and Postgraduate courses and a Ph.D. in Educational Sciences at the same university. He specializes in educational policies, teacher training and development, and management in the field of higher education.
He was a scholar and has attended specialization courses at several institutions abroad: at Freie Universitat – FU Berlin, as a TEMPUS scholar and at L’Ecole des Hautes Etudes Sociale, Lausanne, as a FICE scholar.
He was a UNICEF and World Bank expert for several national projects. He has been a member of the ARACIS Council since 2006, and a member of the Presidential Commission for Education Policy Analysis and Evaluation, Vice President of the National Council for Educational Reform, Vice-Chairman of the Evaluation Council of CNFP – National Teacher Training Center of Pre-university Education. He has organized and provided training and professional development programs for several institutions at national level: Education 2000+ Center, CNFP, UNICEF, the Romanian Academy.
At an international level he is a member of The International Hall of Fame of Adult and Continuing Education from 2011 (since 2016, member of the Selection Comittee), President/Co-ordinator of ENTEP – European Network for Teacher Education Policies from 2010 to 2015, being a member since 2006, expert of The European Commission – Thematic Working Group on Professional Development of Teachers (2010), expert (2006 – 2010) of the European Commission – Cluster Teachers and Trainers; he was was part of the ,,Bologna Tree Cycles” Working Group in 2006, member of the Working Group “Indicators for teachers and trainers” between 2005 and 2010, and expert in the Gruntvig working group between 2004 and 2006 . He was one of Romania’s representatives in the BFUG – Bologna Follow-up Group until 2017. Since 2016 he has been an expert of the Network of Country Experts in Education and member of other research bodies affiliated to foreign universities such as EDITE – European Doctorate in Teacher Education (University of Innsbruck).
