“Movement is life, life is movement!”
The Department of Physical Education and Sports speaks out to students which are enrolled to all faculties of the University of Bucharest. Permanent education through movement is one of the priorities of the department so as to raise awareness for the health benefits the students can obtain by practicing a sport for fitness, leisure or therapy.
The students’ training plan is laid out gradually, starting with disciplines which aim to “introduce” them in the field and which are purposed to stimulate interest and to create a habit of systematically practicing physical exercises so as to rapidly integrate them into the social life, and going up to disciplines practiced at a very high performance level, within representative teams of the University.
When it comes to formation the Department of Physical Education and Sports of the University of Bucharest aims to create competences which are specific to the field of the Science of Sport and Physical Education, as well as creating transversal competences, which manifest their aim to harmoniously develop the personalities of the future specialists and to create a lifestyle which is adjusted to the current socio-economical requirements.
The advancement of the educational offer addressed to the students is a permanent preoccupation of the Department of Physical Education and Sports. The approach strategy to teaching physical education has to start from the orientations found in the sports disciplines programmes, which mention the means of approaching the didactic process in different manners.
The feedback of the direct beneficiaries of the instruction process has represented the starting point in the continuous elaboration and restructuring of the educational plan.
Thus, alongside the already consecrated disciplines, there are now new ones to be found, fit to the requirements of the students of the University of Bucharest. These are taught by professors who have double specializations: mountain sports, athletics, self-defence, badminton, basketball, fitness, competitive dancing, popular dancing, football, judo, handball, karate, aerobic gymnastics, medical gymnastics, therapeutic swimming, chess, tae-bo, tennis, table tennis and volley.
